Using your Health Insurance in your Personal Injury Case
Personal Injury Case? Why You Should Use Your Health Insurance
Many attorneys will tell you that they have doctors who can treat you for your injuries without having to pay anything up front. This is True. Most attorneys know doctors who will treat you on a lien, meaning that you don’t have to pay anything up front. But what they don’t tell you is that you do have to pay the bills for your treatment- at full price- out of your settlement. That’s money out of your pocket.
If you have health insurance, you should use that insurance instead to pay your medical bills. Often, you do not have to reimburse the health insurance company for what they paid out. But even if you do have to pay them back out of your settlement, you only have to pay them the amount they paid out which, in most cases, is an amount greatly reduced from the full amount of the bill, this means more money for you
So if you are involved in a personal injury case and have health insurance, use it. It will be better for you in the long run.
